Printmaking Basics: APR Session 1 - Monoprinting

Printmaking Basics: APR Session 1 - Monoprinting

Teaching artists Tia & Bo Brady will guide you through printmaking basics and you’ll walk away with a stack of exciting prints created with state of the art equipment. This is a great way to get a taste of printmaking and is a fun, creative activity to enjoy with friends and family, with no artistic or printmaking experience required. Check out the other basic classes in relief printing, collagraph and screenprinting too! Supplies will be provided for your use in the studio.

Mono printing involves creating one-of-a-kind prints using a variety of mark-making techniques. Watercolor paint or printing ink is applied to a plexiglass plate, manipulated with different tools and textures, and printed on paper using a printing press.

Instructor

Tia Brady received her BFA in printmaking from the University of Utah, after spending most of her teenage years at Saltgrass Printmakers in Salt Lake City, Utah.  She has been running the Hui Print Studio since 2019 and enjoys helping people fall in love with the art form, even with no experience.

She and her husband, Bo, also run Hex Press Maui, which is a mobile shirt printing company on a mission to share this unique art form with the world.  They do this by printing custom orders live at events and showing parts of the block-printing process you would normally have to visit a studio to see, making it an intriguing and captivating way to purchase wearable art.
