Collaborating with Nature

Visiting Artist Shelley Toon Lindberg will guide you through the art and science of creating ink and watercolor paint from natural botanical and earth pigments. You will then be led on a journey or mark making and representational painting with Maui artist, Maggie Sutrov.  If you love to explore, push the boundaries and have a love for the natural world, this class is for you.

 

IMPORTANT: A SIGNED/COMPLETED WAIVER IS REQUIRED BEFORE REGISTERING FOR HUI CLASSES!

Instructor

Shelley Toon Lindberg is a visual and media artist based in Hood River, Oregon. She is interested in intercultural understanding and environmental awareness. She teaches K-12 students, adults, and trains teachers in arts integration practices in the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, and Hawaii. She studied Fine Arts at the University of Colorado at Boulder and Interdisciplinary Studies in Arts, Education and Communications at Marylhurst University and Book Arts at the Oregon College of Arts and Craft in Portland, Oregon. Her visual art pieces appear in public and private collections throughout the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. As a teaching artist, her aim is to engage students in inquiry-based thinking through visual and media arts to explore interdisciplinary connections, environmental impact, and intercultural understanding.
