Printmaking Basics: SEPT - Collograph*

Printmaking Basics: SEPT - Collograph*

Open to all levels. Learn a new printmaking technique and practice it by making really cool prints on nice paper, all in one afternoon.  Collagraph classes are repeated monthly…taking them multiple times will allow you to layer in new skills and build confidence in the print studio (If you take a class multiple times I will give you the option to work bigger, as we only work small in the drop-in classes.).

The Collagraph process involves gluing materials to a rigid substrate (such as mat board or plexi,) in patterns, shapes, or images. The plate is then sealed and inked using different application techniques, and then printed on paper using a press. This is an exciting process that can easily be combined with other print mediums.

Instructor

Tia Brady received her BFA in printmaking from the University of Utah, after spending most of her teenage years at Saltgrass Printmakers in Salt Lake City, Utah.  She has been running the Hui Print Studio since 2019 and enjoys helping people fall in love with the art form, even with no experience.

She and her husband, Bo, also run Hex Press Maui, which is a mobile shirt printing company on a mission to share this unique art form with the world.  They do this by printing custom orders live at events and showing parts of the block-printing process you would normally have to visit a studio to see, making it an intriguing and captivating way to purchase wearable art.
