JEWELRY BASICS: Cuttlefish Bone Casting Workshop - Level 1

JEWELRY BASICS: Cuttlefish Bone Casting Workshop - Level 1

This workshop will teach students how to do a simple casting of jewelry or metal sculpture using the skeletal bone of a cuttlefish – a soft material that is inexpensive and easy to use.  Students will saw and carve using hard wax, which will then create an impression in the cuttlefish bone.  They will then bind the bone and pour the molten metal into the mold.  You will love this low-tech method of casting that yields a beautiful natural texture on cast forms!

Additional metal will be available for purchase in the studio.
