BOTANICAL COUTURE WORKSHOP w/ FRANCOISE WEEKS, NOAH HARDERS, DELLA PEACOCK & LINDA HERBERGER (1)

Session 1: Thursday / February 23, 2023 / 9:00am - 5:00pm (w/ lunch break) 


Indulge in the mastery of floral couture design in a one day workshop at the Hui!  Attendees will have a unique opportunity to engage with well-known experts Françoise Weeks, Noah Harders, Della Peacock & Linda for a hands-on and behind-the-scenes experience as some of the best artists in the industry.  This brilliant team of visionaries will bring you to a whole new level of floral couture sharing their expertise in design.  All artists or inspired enthusiasts are welcome!


These workshops are an integral part of the Hui’s annual fundraising kickoff event “Art Affair 2023 - “A Floral Couture Celebration of the Arts” to be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023.  A special mahalo to White Orchid Wedding for facilitating and sponsoring these workshops.


We are asking students to enjoy their day while they create a lovely piece to take home and to also continue their practice while they make some fun smaller elements for the Hui’s fundraiser event that will be left onsite for use at the fundraiser on February 25th. All florals, foliage, supplies and necessities will be provided.  


Also included during the day of the workshop: Noah and Della will be creating larger installations on property during the workshop days and those registered in the class will be invited to a ‘behind the scenes’ viewing and presentation.  


Students required to bring: Clippers or scissors, gloves. Bring lunch, snacks and beverages to stay hydrated throughout the day.


Florals and greens will be provided but you are encouraged to bring anything from your yard that you'd like to contribute. Space is very limited, register soon.   Maximum of 30 students per day. Come dressed for upcountry crisp weather.  Casual attire -  excellent company.

FRANÇOISE WEEKS, Owner of Francoise Weeks Floral - Françoise Weeks, born in Belgium, has infused her work with a quintessential European reverence for flowers and nature. Combined with creativity and mechanical ingenuity, she has crystalized her singular style of Textural Woodlands and Botanical Haute Couture pieces, garnering a global following. Her generosity of knowledge and perspective in use of floral materials, structure and techniques, create rigorous and exciting learning opportunities for her students to explore all that nature has to offer. Françoise’s studio is located in Portland, OR. She teaches workshops in her studio and offers online courses as well. She has taught in many cities in the US as well as in Canada, Mexico, England, Sweden, Iceland, France, China and Australia. Her dynamic work has been published in national and international magazines, as well as an Emmy- winning TV feature. In 2019 she was invited to participate in the renowned flower shows Fleuramour and FlowerTime in Belgium. In December 2018 her book “The Herbal Recipe Keeper” was published by Timber Press. She currently is working on a new book “The Wonder of Woodlands”, which will be published in the spring of 2024.

NOAH HARDERS, Owner of Waikapu Collective - Enter the wondrous floral world of Noah Harders (@waikapu) and on a never ending, ever evolving creative journey, told through a collection of mediums, styles, and techniques. A true collaboration with nature. Reimagining flora, fauna, and found objects through passion, experimentation, and love for the arts. “Native Hawaiian artist Noah Harders takes a whimsical approach to style in Moemoeā, his first institutional exhibition at the Honolulu Museum of Art. Translating to dream or fantasy, the show’s title offers a conceptual, political, and aesthetic foundation for Harders’ vast array of works that transform crustacean shells, skeletal remains, lush jade flowers, and other organic matter into sculptural wearables. DELLA PEACOCK, Owner of Dellables Floral Design -  Della, owner and creative director at Dellables Floral Artistry has had a passion for expressing herself creatively both personal and professionally all of her life. Operating out of San Francisco and the Island of Maui, she draws inspiration from both the natural world around her and from the heartfelt connection she feels for others.  Floral and Wedding Event Design has been her vehicle to express her passions and share her joy with the world around her.

 

Additional Bios – Hair & Makeup Visionary Artist:

LINDA HERBERGER, owner of LAH Salon is a leader and expert in the world of hair styling and design.  As the owner of LAH, linda amassed what she calls “35 years of isdom”.  Linda comes to us originally from New York City where she mastered her trade, she states, “I literally grew up in the business”.  Many years ago, she found her home on the island of Maui in Hawaii where she presently resides where for over a decade, she owned a prestigious salon in lovely Wailea. Linda has traveled extensively as a platform artist educating and bringing new trends to industry peers across the globe.  She has a list of accolades including state, national and international awards for her hair styling techniques and visionary work.  Lindas experience has been recognized in several publications such as the prestigious American Salon Magazine, Oxygen Magazine, San Diego Magazine, Maui No Ka Oi and Hawaii Bride and Groom to name a few.  In addition, she has styled for print ads, music videos, film and commercials showing her talents on shows such as Good Morning LA, TNT’s Wedding Day and the movie Just Go with It.  She has often been the ‘go to’ for celebrities and special events with our local and visiting community.
