Lei Making Workshop: Lei Po’o Wili Style

Lei Making Workshop: Lei Po’o Wili Style

Everyone loves to wear the fresh flowers and leaves of Hawai‘i! Spend the afternoon learning to make lei and you’ll walk away with a beautiful handmade lei to wear or share with someone special. Rose will teach the wili style lei po‘o (head lei).

Please be sure to bring a pair of scissors.

Rose will supply all the flowers and greens you'll need, but you are encouraged to bring anything from your yard that you'd like to try out in a lei.

Instructor

Born and raised on her grandparent’s Kula farm, Rose Pi‘ilani Bailey is a hula dancer and Hawaiian arts practitioner. She has learned family traditions that have been passed down for many generations and takes pride in using many native Hawaiian plants and materials in her lei making and other hana no‘eau (arts). She uses local flowers grown at her own home, fresh from the farm, to make lei and floral arrangements. In addition, Rose collaborates on special events such as weddings and graduations, teaches the art of lei making and hula, tends to her family’s fruit and flower farms, and styles photoshoots.
